Mustang Drive UPDATES | The Mustang Drive event date is set for THURSDAY APRIL 14TH (day before Spring Break)!

We are looking for prize donations! Prizes are important for the Mustang Drive to be a success. If you own a local business that can donate prizes or know of someone that does, please contact Michelle Zimmerman-Getchius, Moltibaci27@gmail.com. Businesses that participate will be recognized on our Mustang Drive website page.

A reminder that there will be standing, weekly meet-ups via ZOOM Thursdays at 5 p.m. up through to the day-of the event. To get the ZOOM link please contact Chair Mary Loos, maryzerafa@gmail.com or 562 754-2500.

A flyer should have gone home to all 8th graders this week explaining the event along with how you can help to support the effort! You can also link to the donation portal specifically for 8th Grade events at the PTA store here.

Want to help with planning or just learn what’s happening so far? THE NEXT 8TH GRADE COMMITTEE MEETING IS SET FOR NEXT WEEK WEDNESDAY MARCH 2ND 6:30-7:30 VIA ZOOM (email Danielle to RSVP – ZOOM link at https://lbusd.zoom.us/j/9290371304 )!

VIPS | APPLY NOW! If you are interested in becoming a VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools) for Rogers Middle School and you no longer have an active VIPS badge for our school site (it has expired), only have a badge for another site (previous elementary, etc.), or never have been processed as a VIPS with LBUSD, please email Karina Vasquez in the school’s front office at kvasquez@lbschools.net to start the application process.

Please note that only current Rogers VIPS will be able to help with on campus school day events (this includes the Mustang Drive fundraiser). For this reason, it is important for those interested to start the application process as soon as possible as VIPS applications may take several weeks to process and finalize. we need your help clip art sign displayPTA ONLINE STORE COORDINATOR WANTED! PTA is seeking a volunteer to handle its online store, which offers items such as the Rogers sweatshirts, PE uniforms, memberships, banner sponsorships, and other specific activity donation collection portals.

The ideal person should be tech savvy, and experience with Square or Weebly would be helpful. Tasks include creating new items as needed, coordinating with the financial secretary to make sure categories match budget line items, updating inventory as needed, and generating sales reports each month.

As this work is typically done online and off campus and apart from students and staff, you do not require VIPS clearance to fill this position. If you are interested in this volunteer position, please email rogersmiddleschoolpta@gmail.com (Subject: PTA Online Store Coordinator Position)

Reflections Art Reception Wed 2-23-2022 4-4:30pmReflections Art Reception NEXT WEEK Wednesday February 23rd 4-4:30 p.m. All Rogers Families are invited to join our Mustang Artists and their families at the Rogers Reflections Art Reception in Bungalow 27101 next week!

Come view this year’s entries in the school-level PTA Reflections contest, enjoy light refreshments, and see who is selected to advance to the Long Beach Council level.

VIPS are needed for the Rogers Book Fair February 15-18 2022. The Book Fair will be held on campus for all students in the school library.

A quick reminder for those 5th grade families in the Rogers attendance area enrolling and/or for those trying for School of Choice for the 2022-23 year that the Rogers VIRTUAL site night is scheduled for NEXT WEEK Wednesday February 9th from 4:20-5:20 p.m. Look to the Rogers School Loop Website for more info and for the ZOOM link.

Check with your student also today after school for more at-home rapid Covid-19 tests to help monitor and manage your health and care at home. Thank you!

we need your help clip art sign displayFood/ Snack Donations Needed NEXT WEEK for Field Day! Rogers students have a special Field Activity Day coming up on Friday February 11th … and Student Council needs your help!

Please use this Sign-Up Genius Link if you are able to sign up for and bring any of the following items (we will need your name and what you intend to bring with your sign-up please):

  • bags of individually wrapped candy
  • cupcakes (“store bakery” prepared/packaged)
  • 4 cans of whipped cream
  • 3 bags of Cuties – or similar small oranges
  • 4 boxes/containers of store-packaged chocolate chip cookies (Chips Ahoy works great!)

BOOK FAIR VIPS NEEDED! | Book Fair Tuesday February 15th-Friday February 18th The book fair is in need of 2 VIPS each morning and afternoon during the upcoming Book Fair (8 VIPS shifts total). Yesterday was the first planning meeting, which will be a standing, weekly meet-up via ZOOM Thursdays at 5 p.m. up through to the day-of the event. To get the ZOOM link please see contact info below for Chair Mary Loos.

The committee is also still in need of a few volunteers to make this fun(draiser) event a success! Can you help with any of the following?

  • Prize coordinators/ solicitors
  • Liaison(s) with teachers and volunteers and to coordinate the day-of Mustang Drive activities
  • General at-large members, and day of volunteers
  • Social media/communications (content creation, graphics and text; work with Corresponding Secretary on timing of scheduling-placing posts on social media and website)
  • Pledgestar coordinator

MEETING AND ELECTIONS NOTICE |  Elections for next year’s Board will be scheduled for the next General Association meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, March 22nd.


VIPS | APPLY NOW! If you are interested in becoming a VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools) for Rogers Middle School and you no longer have an active VIPS badge for our school site (it has expired), only have a badge for another site (previous elementary, etc.), or never have been processed as a VIPS with LBUSD, please email Karina Vasquez in the school’s front office at kvasquez@lbschools.net to start the application process.

Please note that only current Rogers VIPS will be able to help with on campus school day events (this includes the Mustang Drive fundraiser). For this reason, it is important for those interested to start the application process as soon as possible as VIPS applications may take several weeks to process and finalize. HELP WANTED NOW! Rogers PTA Board and Committee Chairs/Members Are you interested in jumping in and helping out with Rogers PTA for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year? It’s not too late!

Opportunities in the following areas are available:

  • Social Media Content Creator (work with Corresponding Secretary now through year-end on creating graphic and textual content for special events such as Mustang Drive and 8th Grade activities in Spring Semester, with potential to stay on as Corresponding Secretary for 2022-23, reach out to Kristen Pincherli at rogersmiddleschoolpta@gmail.com for all details; subject “Social Media Content Help”)
  • Parent Education chair (year-round programming)

8th Grade Committee | VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! The end-of-year celebration for all Rogers 8th Graders is scheduled for Tuesday, June 14th from 6-9 p.m. at CSULB. Specific areas in need of volunteers are as follows: Food & drinks; Candy Bar; Photo Booth; Decorations; Entertainment (DJ/other); and Advertising/Social Media. The next meeting is anticipated for early March. Any 8th Grade parent or guardian interested in helping in one or more of these areas or attending the next meeting to hear what is being planned should please email Danielle Van Divort at deesteinberg@yahoo.com (Subject: Rogers 8th Grade event; please include contact info and student name in your email to make sure you are added to the contact list!)
