Our Rogers community pulled together to overcome challenges in another uncertain year, persevering through zoom and in person meetings, supporting Rogers staff and students, funding programs and student needs, and organizing amazing student events for the first time in two years! Thanks to all our PTA volunteers, to the Rogers staff and teachers, and to the PTA Board and event chairs for their hard work, dedication, enthusiasm, motivation and creative thinking!

Good luck to all our promoting middle school families – you will always be Mustangs!

we need your help clip art sign display8th Grade Promotion Wednesday 6/15 | Help Wanted! The 2022 Promotion Ceremony for our 8th Grade Class is set for Wednesday June 15th from 9-10:30 a.m. at Rogers (outdoor event). The Promotion Committee is seeking a few helpers for morning day-of from 8:15-9:30 a.m. to help manage a refreshment table for this event. Please go to the 8th Grade Promotion Sign-Up Genius to choose a task to help with.

Traditionally, our 6th and 7th Grade families have helped with 8th Grade Promotion tasks so our 8th Grade families can enjoy the event with their student, but please note that any Rogers VIPS who is available is welcome to come and help!

All the best to Nate W. tomorrow Saturday June 11th as he represents Rogers Middle School and LBUSD as a contestant in the SoCal Jeopardy Tournament of Champions at Marshall Academy of the Arts! He will compete against five other LBUSD Middle/K-8 student champions & others.

REFLECTIONS 2022-23REFLECTIONS ART PROGRAM FOR 2022-23 The theme for the Reflections Art Program has been released! The theme is, “Show Your Voice!” Start thinking of how you can create a piece of original artwork to this theme using the fine arts, music composition, dance, video, photography, or writing medium. We are looking for prize donations! Prizes are important for the Mustang Drive to be a success. If you own a local business that can donate prizes or know of someone that does, please contact Michelle Zimmerman-Getchius, Moltibaci27@gmail.com. Businesses that participate will be recognized on our Mustang Drive website page.

we need your help clip art sign displayPTA ONLINE STORE COORDINATOR WANTED! PTA is seeking a volunteer to handle its online store, which offers items such as the Rogers sweatshirts, PE uniforms, memberships, banner sponsorships, and other specific activity donation collection portals.

The ideal person should be tech savvy, and experience with Square or Weebly would be helpful. Tasks include creating new items as needed, coordinating with the financial secretary to make sure categories match budget line items, updating inventory as needed, and generating sales reports each month.

As this work is typically done online and off campus and apart from students and staff, you do not require VIPS clearance to fill this position. If you are interested in this volunteer position, please email rogersmiddleschoolpta@gmail.com (Subject: PTA Online Store Coordinator Position)

Reflections Art Reception Wed 2-23-2022 4-4:30pmReflections Art Reception NEXT WEEK Wednesday February 23rd 4-4:30 p.m. All Rogers Families are invited to join our Mustang Artists and their families at the Rogers Reflections Art Reception in Bungalow 27101 next week!

Come view this year’s entries in the school-level PTA Reflections contest, enjoy light refreshments, and see who is selected to advance to the Long Beach Council level.

This week, PTA was able to identify those students who qualified for the various membership drive incentives that were offered. We appreciate your effort and how you all really rallied for Rogers PTA during the drive!

We are happy to report that we had 547 new or renewing members during our official membership drive period, with 270 members joining or renewing via TOTEM online. The total to date is more than DOUBLE the amount of membership we had all last school year! THANK YOU for your support!

HAVE YOU JOINED? IT’S NOT TOO LATE! Please remember that memberships must be renewed each year while at Rogers. Memberships are $10/member (new or renewal). Donations to Rogers PTA are also accepted throughout the year. Thank you for your consideration in helping us to meet our goals!

Rogers PTA Membership Drive ENDS in 10 DAYS ON OCTOBER 31st! A HUGE thank you to everyone who has joined or renewed your membership and/or purchased sweatshirts or PE uniforms with the PTA so far this year. A reminder that Rogers PTA is able to offer a few incentives for joining PTA during our Membership Drive this year!

JOIN PTA BY OCTOBER 31, 2021 and Receive Great Incentives!

  • Any student who becomes a member (or returns a membership) will be entered into a drawing for a $50 AMC gift card. One entry limit per student
  • Any student who returns four (4) or more memberships will be entered into a drawing for a “Front of the Line” pass to be used at lunch AND all Rogers student activity days for the entire 2021-2022 school year! One entry limit per student
  • Any 8th Grade student who becomes a member (or returns a membership) will be entered into a drawing for 4 reserved front-row seats at 8th Grade Promotion! One entry limit per student
  • The 1st Period class with the highest percentage of memberships will receive an in-class party!
  • PTA thrives on several business partnerships that offer member discounts and benefits, including Hertz, Farm Fresh to You and Tick Talk.  Go to http://www.capta.org for more information.

PTA’s goal for membership is one membership per student. Rogers currently has an enrollment of around 800 students. The count as of October 21st shows that Rogers PTA has signed up 520 total members! This includes 256 who have joined or renewed online via TOTEM, PTA’s online membership portal. We are currently two-thirds of the way to our drive’s goal with just 10 DAYS LEFT! We are doing GREAT – in fact, we have already WAY MORE than DOUBLED our 2020-21 membership count! – but we still have more work to do and really REALLY could use your support to meet our goals!

Student Field Day Friday October 29th Field Days have returned to Rogers, and PTA and Student Council need donated items to help make it a successful event. At this time, unfortunately VIPS and other in-person volunteers are still prohibited from participating in person on campus during these events, but we welcome donations at this time as you are able to help answer the call.

Halfway Mark of our Membership Drive! As a mid-drive follow-up, all students should have received a red flier and envelope from the PTA recently. Please review this flier to learn more about PTA and what it does for ALL of our students and school! If you still have yet to become a member, now’s your chance! Or, maybe you have already joined but want to pass the flier onto a family member, neighbor, friend, or other Rogers fan… that’s great… all are welcome! Just fill out the envelope provided and submit $10/ea membership, cash or check (made out to “Rogers PTA”), or you can easily join PTA online now here with credit/debit card via Square.

PTA is able to offer a few incentives for joining PTA during our Membership Drive this year!

JOIN PTA BY OCTOBER 31, 2021 and Receive Great Incentives!

  • Any student who becomes a member (or returns a membership) will be entered into a drawing for a $50 AMC gift card. One entry limit per student
  • Any student who returns four (4) or more memberships will be entered into a drawing for a “Front of the Line” pass to be used at lunch AND all Rogers student activity days for the entire 2021-2022 school year! One entry limit per student
  • Any 8th Grade student who becomes a member (or returns a membership) will be entered into a drawing for 4 reserved front-row seats at 8th Grade Promotion! One entry limit per student
  • The 1st Period class with the highest percentage of memberships will receive an in-class party!
  • PTA thrives on several business partnerships that offer member discounts and benefits, including Hertz, Farm Fresh to You and Tick Talk.  Go to http://www.capta.org for more information.

PTA’s goal for membership is one membership per student. Rogers currently has an enrollment of around 800 students. The count as of October 7th shows that Rogers PTA has signed up 493 total members! This includes 246 who have joined or renewed online via TOTEM, PTA’s online membership portal. We are currently almost 2/3 of the way to our drive’s goal with just a few weeks to go! We are doing GREAT – in fact, we have already WAY MORE than DOUBLED our 2020-21 membership count! – but we still have more work to do!

Please remember that memberships must be renewed each year while at Rogers. Memberships are $10/member (new or renewal). Donations to Rogers PTA are also accepted throughout the year.

This includes 141 online members via TOTEM, PTA’s online membership portal. We are currently at 45 percent of our goal. We are doing great – in fact, we have already far surpassed our 2020-21 membership count! – but we have some more work to do!

PTA MEETING NOTICE – DATE CHANGE! Save the Date Thursday, September 30th at 6 p.m. for Rogers PTA’s first General Association meeting of the 2021-22 school year! This meeting will take place on zoom. Link to be shared closer to meeting date. Come meet the 2021-22 PTA Board, discuss and vote on the annual budget, and preview the 2021-22 programming and event calendar. Please calendar this evening now and plan to join – all are welcome to attend!
